Professional regulations:

The practice of the notarial profession is governed by the following professional regulations: the Federal Notarial Code (BNotO), the Notarisation Act (BeurkG), the Court and Notarial Fees Act (GNotKG), the Notarial Records Regulation (NotAktVV) and the professional guidelines of the Westphalian Chamber of Notaries (see the website listed above). Current versions of the aforementioned statutory regulations can be found in the collection of professional regulations of the Federal Chamber of Notaries at www.bnotk.de/Notar/Berufsrecht/index.

The practice of law is subject to the following professional regulations: Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO), Code of Conduct for Lawyers (BORA), Lawyers’ Fees Act (RVG), Specialist Lawyers’ Regulations (FAO), Professional Rules for Lawyers of the European Community, and the Act on the Practice of European Lawyers in Germany (EuRAG). Professional indemnity insurance: Solicitors and notaries  (§ 2 Abs. 1 Nr. 11 DL-Info)

Lawyers are required under the Federal Lawyers' Act to maintain professional liability insurance with a minimum coverage of 250,000.00 euros. The details are set out in § 51 BRAO. For notaries, this obligation arises from § 19a BNotO. The exclusions of liability listed in § 51 para. 3 BRAO and in § 19a para. 2 BNotO form part of the professional liability insurance policies taken out separately by Attorney and Notary Ralf-Bernd Rabe. Attorney and Notary Rabe operates in a liability-independent cooperation (office sharing arrangement).

Consumer dispute resolution

There is neither an obligation nor a willingness to participate in proceedings before a consumer dispute resolution body.
